About OOYSHG

Our History

Oldonyo Orok Youth Self-Help Group is a youth self-help group, based in Namanga, Matapato South Ward, Kajiado County.

The group was duly registered under the Ministry of Gender, Social Services, Culture, Tourism and Wildlife on 9th July 2020.

The group is a non-political, voluntary self-help group comprising of young well educated members seeking to improve the livelihoods of locals in our community.

Solar Electric Fence – 2022

This is intended to cover only the area of the project where the water tanks, water troughs and spray race are located, an estimated 2 acre piece of land. A solar electric fence is preferable since it is long lasting, renewable energy and has a low cost of maintenance.

Our Objectives

  1. Initiating and promoting sustainable income generating activities on a demand driven basis

  2. Forming common interest subgroups and mobilizing local resources to start viable business enterprises for youths in the rural area

  3. Identifying and bridging capacity gaps through trainings

  4. Improving access to equity (seed) funding and micro-financial services

  5. Creating a learning environment and a positive team spirit
